Love Hurts…

Adele

“Sometimes it lasts in love, but sometimes it hurts instead…” ~ Adele

Several of my favourite songs by Adele, of which, mean a lot to me.

Somewhere Over The Rainbow…

Hold your horses!

‘Tis not the Wizard of Oz version but this one from an awesome movie called “Face Off”. I still remember the very first time I laid eyes on this film, a particular scene has stayed with me since then because….

In my experience, being deaf in a hearing world can be such a cacophony of experiences, which can make it a most chaotic place to mingle, so much so that I tend to find myself wanting to tune out, recoiling into a world of my own. Some may say for one’s own sanity and protection, a chance to cease what mental fight there may be. A moment’s retreat is I suspect, what aids me in retaining a calm composure thus enabling me to think with more clarity whilst observing such a discordance of unrest and triviality.

Deaf people are oftentimes overwhelmed with what I term visual “white noise” the very moment we leave the protection of our homes, such as strangers’ faces distorting in order to express and enunciate. In going about their hasty routines, people appear to be clamouring. The meaningless bass sounds of congestion produced by the ongoing traffic. The wayward sounds of any tempestuous weather is lost and therefore, in vain. All of which, are seen and felt but not heard.

Meanwhile there are those of us who may be able to associate sounds with said actions, perhaps from memory or facilitated by hearing aids but silence otherwise, is at times golden, by giving us some respite from the full extent and purposes of sounds.

Yet being able to hear and appreciate music is quite something else to cherish hence, another reason why, I love this scene so albeit from differing perspectives.

Written to conclude my “Silence is Golden” article. 🙂

Perfect Day

A guy who signs a song in various characters, changing costumes 15 times in order to produce this fantastic video gets my thumbs up!

You are surely, “Ducking quackers“!

Thank YOU, whoever and wherever you may be – for making my heart smile.

Old Lady Vs Flabz

KaiI would like to seize this opportunity to introduce you to my cousin Kai, who is perhaps better known as Flabz in the music world.

Within the description of this (part 2) YouTube video, is a link to video part one where it all happened. As Kai tries to wax lyrical to fulfil his hearts desire, an elderly lady, (bless her cottons) decides to be persistent in moving Kai and his friend on from what could be her turf.

An elderly lady (Super Gran?) having a turf war with an aspiring freestyle MC? Legend!

Pixel.

A beloved friend unusually wanted my attention and it turned out to be for this very impressive video which is titled “Pixel”.

As quoted from their page, “Pixel is a dance show for 11 dancers in a virtual and living visual environment. A work on illusion combining energy and poetry, fiction and technical achievement, hip hop and circus. A show at the crossroads of arts and at the crossroads of Adrien M / Claire B’s and Mourad Merzouki’s universes.”

An exceptional visual experience with elements of surprise! Naturally, we just had to share it with you too because we enjoyed it so.

Seasonal Greetings.

Once again it is that time of the year to send seasonal greetings so here I am, wishing to send mine to each and every one of you albeit with a little character – Tis healthy to be true to thyself 😉

Some additional exemplary (inclusive) videos for you to cherish – please enjoy.

Dorothy Miles’ poem – “Christmas Presents” by Ramon Woolfe

and “Silent Night” by the beautiful Nadia Nadarajah, Ruth Montgomery and her father.

And last but not least, a little humour that one of our admins, Andrew, shared:

One of the Caliphs was a little bit deaf..

The Power of Music.

Following on from a recent post of mine “A Few of My Favourite Things”, I am now able to fit snugly into my (UK) size 8 jeans due to cherishing numerous chocolate cakes and being ever so gently kissed by the sun’s warm embrace.

The other day it dawned on me that I am getting closer to the light at the end of this tunnel that I have been in for the past year. Confidence that was once lost is once again being found, the courage within me is once again strengthening all the while cherishing even more so the time shared with each and every being.

“After silence, that which comes nearest to expressing the inexpressible is music.” – Aldous Huxley

Music is also another favourite of mine which has been beneficial yet in order for me to heal further and move forwards; I would like to share with you, two of my favourite songs that I signed along especially to, for after silence, sign language is also the nearest next to music that makes one able to express themselves fluidly as actions speak louder than words.

“Music produces a kind of pleasure which human nature cannot do without.” – Confucius

“Can’t help falling in Love” by UB40

“Baby, can I hold you tonight?” by Tracy Chapman.

“The earth has music for those who listen” – Shakespeare.

There is music, in each and everything if you know where to look and/or listen. One of my favourite kinds of music has to be within Mother Nature. For example watching the blowing leaves or the long green grass swaying along, dancing gently in the wind. Naturally a truly calming experience.

“Don’t walk behind me; I may not lead. Don’t walk in front of me; I may not follow. Just walk besides me and be my friend.” – Albert Camus

Might I add, as equals.

On that note, to all those “friends” who taught me who/what not to be and to those new found friends of whom lately have become so dear to me, not to forget our followers too – for you have all unknowingly been supporting me along this road to recovery, in order to be me again. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone in the Tree House, for being there. Thank you, more than you realise – for saving me. I will be there for you too.

Positivity rules! All because that is how we roll.

P.S. if you cannot find me, it is because I am hiding away due to sharing my videos! (That I made that summer)
