Why I Donated To ‘War Child’.

A notification popped up last week on Facebook, asking me if I had seen her post.

It was the very first post I saw that evening as I logged in, already I was smiling.

No one can resist a pair of handmade bootees… especially if they are in the style of a Converse pair.

I let it be known that I was rather tempted to order a pair by her own hands.

As I enquired how to pay for her time, materials etc, “Please donate to a charity.” she replied.

“What a wonderful woman” were my thoughts.

I felt it would be rude to choose a charity of my own, so asked her, what her preferences were.

Out of the three given by Suzanne, I picked ‘War Child.” For they had managed to stop me in my tracks and rendered me speechless.

I sadly, had not heard of them before then and wished, they could know the real reason why I had donated to them.

All due to this wonderful and generous woman, Suzanne Miller, who made these cherished booties for my baby daughter.

Thank YOU, ever so.

I do not think I have ever said this before to anyone but, God bless you Suzanne. ☺️

Please, if you can, donate to War child for they are a fantastic charity and to quote a friend, “It’s a shame the circumstances exist for it to be necessary. 😢 ”

Strike Action Diminishes Trust & Reliability

trust and relaibility
Trust and reliability…

Trust and reliability which has taken years to forge is lost the very instance whenever workers walk out the door or go on strike.

From experience, they will only try their hand at the implementing the same manipulation tactics time and time again, pushing their luck that little bit harder with each attempt. Of which, the repetition becomes stale with greed. Inevitably, workers become more complacent due to demands being met.

If workers cannot do their job effectively consistently by going on strike and their actions for which they are responsible for is causing a ripple effect on the public, they need to be nipped in the bud, not appeased or permitted to bully their bosses.

Granted there are pen-pushers who have no comprehension of what workers on the ground may face, any walkouts where talks have failed, would provide them with the opportunity to stand in for the workers and gain the valuable experience and insight needed before understanding the workers’ stance fully. To able to reach a fair and just, compromise sympathetically.

There are experienced employers out there who have worked extremely hard in establishing, developing and taking further their companies, showing utmost patience to date and that alone deserves a pat on the back.

Where that is the case, what an employer should do is let the strikers go… People who voluntarily choose to go on strike, potentially ignoring, compromising and endangering users of the services should be dismissed from their jobs, to make way for those who genuinely need and want a job, respectful of those above them paying their wages. Service users reserve the right to take their custom elsewhere, otherwise.

In order for workers to understand humility and gratitude, they need to be reminded of just how lucky they are to be walking in such comfortable shoes. There are workers overseas who work in potentially highly dangerous conditions with no health and safety polices in place. They receive very little next to nothing yet they continue to strive in helping to make the world a better place, for others, sometimes risking their lives. They are the survivors, of the fittest.

Patience Is A Virtue

“What is wrong with the people of the world?”

Reaching out to those…

Whom may have lost their ways and can no longer recognise what should be the norm as in how to live and who to be… Countries that accept, at times encouraging, binge drinking, pedophilia, injustice, promiscuity, adultery, drug use and all the other immoral sinful acts of degradation as the norm. Sadly, what hope(s) will one have?

Who do not question, fulfilling a deeper knowledge on whether such an act is righteous, beneficial, moral, logical, fair or a case of blindly following the (m)asses due to peer pressure and / or cultural traditions.

Who wish to be a better person. Please, remain kind, patient, humble, respectful and compassionate in all senses. Reacting angrily or seeking retribution would only cause further damage. Be tolerant and leave them be.

For the sake of bringing peace to one’s mental and emotional well-being.

Who potentially has the opportunity of discovering the religion of Islam.

Time.

The report narrated by al-Tirmidhi (5207) and Ibn Maajah (4032), which says that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The believer who mixes with people and patiently bears their annoyance will have a greater reward than the believer who does not mix with people and patiently bear their annoyance.” (Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Tirmidhi, 2035).

Al-Sindi said in his footnote on Ibn Maajah (2/493): “This hadeeth indicates that the one who is patient and mixes with people is better than the one who isolates himself.”

Al-San’aani said in Subul al-Salaam (4/416): “This indicates that mixing with people whereby one enjoins what is good and forbids what is evil and deals with them in a good manner is better than keeping away from them and not putting up with mixing with them.”

I decided to open this post by asking “What is wrong with the people of the world?” because it was how the Prophet used to patiently address the people of his community in general, respectfully, whenever there was an issue as not to single out a person thus avoiding bringing any embarrassment or any ill-fated consequences. It is also a test of good manners to be patient, with the bad ones. In addition, because it is a characteristic I can more or less relate to albeit at times, people can be rather testing.

For patience, is a virtue…
