A Drop Of Kindness.

img_0644

My 11 year old daughter stopped me early this afternoon whilst shopping and asked me if she could give HER change to this elderly homeless man who looked quite sad, I explained that it was hers to give – I even gave her a bit more loose change. She smiled and ran up to him, handing over her change. She ran back to me, glowing and looking satisfied. I then looked to him in the distance and put up my hand to acknowledge him, also with a smile.

Walking home, she spoke of how powerful a smile can be. How he tranformed, smiling back at her and gratefully thanked her about ten times! Bless her cottons… I explained to her that she most probably made his day. She understood then, just how much my favourite saying means to me…

“Keep on smiling, for it is free and does wonders.”

It suits too. 😊

A drop of kindness goes a very long way but best of all, it does not hurt.

Feeling Loved.

Quite some time ago at my son’s school during assembly, they were learning about communication.

a mother and her child doing sign language for I LOVE YOU

One of the pictures they used was of this sign and no one knew what it meant. That is until my son put up his hand and said “It means I love you in American Sign Language”….

A teacher approached him afterwards and asked him how he knew, “My mum is deaf” he explained.

Go, go, go sign language!

Air Karate Chops.

img_0621

Not long ago, I was cherishing a cuddle with baby when I suddenly felt something tickling my neck. It continued so I tried to feel what it was. Looked at my hand and there was this spider hogging my fingers. Shock horror!! 😱 Shook my hand in terror πŸ‘‹πŸΌ and jumped up off the sofa, πŸƒπŸ½β€β™€οΈclinging onto baby for security and reassurance – she was oblivious and carefree, πŸ’ͺ🏼 the most courageous baby ever. Whereas, 😳 shame on me! 😩😩😩

Last night I was sleeping 😴… blissfully. I think! My hand felt a tickle… I woke up in alarm and did a karate chop in the air πŸ‘‹πŸΌ to flick off any 8 legged crawlies that did NOT have my permission to be on or near my body….😀 Was it the very same spider haunting me or my hair? God only knows – I don’t want to know! 🀚🏼

Today… 😬😬😬😬… I had to grit my teeth every time I felt a tickle on my neck. No, nothing to attack the air with for my hair is now short enough to fool me, to tease me. πŸ˜“πŸ˜“πŸ˜“

Just one of the challenges of having ultra sensitive skin, heightened due to being hearing impaired.

Tip – check between your bedcovers before you go to bed and always, I mean always! turn your shoes upside down and shake before putting them on! 😜😜😜

I only started checking my footwear because I had seen on TV, a scorpion that sought warmth inside someone’s slippers. I have caught several spiders that way so it definitely works! A hearing friend once told me that they can hear whenever there is a spider inside their footwear for it goes pop… Urgh.

Last but not least, a friend of mine whose boyfriend was going to throw a spider he caught, over their balcony and she told him not to because he would kill it. To flush it down the toilet instead. There I sat, puzzled! Go figure.

A Whole New Definition.

img_0612

Seeing people’s reactions as they learn when the baby was born is by far, amusing.

The best so far has to be my GP’s, who was surprised and said “Gosh! 😳 That puts a whole new definition on Christmas Day!”

The look on the postman’s face as he found out when the baby was born was absolutely priceless! His jaw dropped and said “No way?!” I’m like, “Yes way!” 😝

“What a day to be born on!” as a friend exclaimed.

To be continued, of course…

My Little Miss Sunshine.

The very first drawing that my daughter drew, just Β for her baby sister.

I can envisage now, the bond they will share between them. How very sweet. ❀️

For they are both my sunshine and nothing can make me feel better than the warm kisses and embrace of my sunshine. They help me to forget, what makes me sad. Bless their cottons!

Rumour Has It…

That I have had a breakdown. Hmmm, I must admit that when I heard that, I just had to laugh. Granted, for those of you concerned enough, it was not at all funny but alarming enough for you to actually approach me and find out the truth, for yourselves. I would like to applause those of you for having enough respect for me, to come to me, rather than conforming to the peer pressure of Chinese whispers amongst yourselves.

β€œWhat you don’t see with your eyes, don’t witness with your mouth.”

As for the “breakdown” – it is absolutely and utterly untrue. IF there ever were one, it would have been before I founded the Tree House. There was a time when I was kicked whilst I was down but those who did not dare to look down on me – whilst I was down helped me back up again. After the Tree House was founded, there was another time when a good portion of my previous admin team tried to undermine, overpower me but I stood my ground, stood up (much to their horror hoping that I would stand by) and removed their flaws from damaging me, relatively the Tree House further. (A survival of the fittest of course) They still and will always try their best to damage it but that is their problem, therefore their waste of (negative) energy. These people are behind me, and so it should be the case, for you too.

I have now reached the stage where I do not need social media in my life – any longer. Social media has become quite the tool for sociopaths. It sucks people in, makes them mindless of others and sadly, the preciousness of face-to-face values is lost on most. If anything, the Tree House has been a lifeline to me for the past two years. I am oftentimes (albeit surprisingly) reminded that people can still be humane, respectful, kind, considerate, honest and genuine.

I do appreciate social media in the sense that it has reconnected me in the past, to long lost family and friends, for introducing me to some newfound friends that have brought laughter and tears to my heart. For reminding me, who not to be, who to steer clear of and just how twisted and bitter some people can be. That is not the way I wish to use my second chance at life – most people only get one chance and if they could turn back time and change certain aspects of their lives, they would. Thus, why, I am because I can. I have once again found the balance in my life in order for me to cherish life and social media is not part of that equation.

Look to the person next to you, to the cashier in the shops, to the stranger opposite you on public transport. Consider how they may be feeling or what they may be going through. They would love a friendly smile just as much as you do. Smell the freshly cut grass, cherish chocolate even – as a treat mind you! Strive to be righteous, honest and the best one can be. Find a way to being happy from within because being happy for a reason is dangerous since that reason can be taken away from you.

There is certainly no need for me to broadcast why I have taken a step back, a sabbatical, especially when it is for very personal reasons that only my family and a selected few friends deserve to know. They have after all, always been there for me.

Please, trust in me that when I say, I am more than fine, I am actually anticipating all the joy the future has in store, for me, and my children.

For… β€œWhat is coming is better than what has gone.” Β

In My Life…

Little do people know that I knocked on death’s door, three times in a year. That year was a life changing experience, not just for me but for my family and close friends also.

Hence why, this song is more than apt, for all those in my life because only I know, how it feels to love and cherish others that much more.
